Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Rivers State Governor has cautioned Traditional Rulers not to abuse their influence.
He talked on Friday in Port Harcourt during the Presentation of Certificates of Recognition and Staff of Office to Government Recognized Traditional Rulers.
He stated: “All that we ask from our conventional rulers is to keep on being the reviving point for the headway and sustenance of harmony, solidarity and progress in our networks.
“We won’t spare a moment to pull back acknowledgment from any of you who misuses your position or abuse your influence illegal and the aggregate prosperity of our society.
“As conventional rulers, it is imperative to advise you that the advancement of your communities lean on the social, political and monetary decisions you make and the sort of authority you give. In reality, without great initiative you can’t have any significant effect on the society.
Wike lamented that some Traditional Rulers have been adversely associated with cultism or other social indecencies, while others have been not interested in the social emergency in their Kingdoms.
“More regrettable still, some of you have turned out to be biased traditional rulers and troublesome figures in our society and in this manner creating hindrances to solidarity, harmony and progress”, he said.
Representative Wike educated that the State Government officially displayed present Certificates of Recognition and Staff of Office to 84 traditional leaders of various classes from the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.
